VXFG Submits Key Recommendations to the Amplify Creative Strategy
The Visual Effects Guild (VFXG) has made a submission to the government’s Amplify Creative Strategy, highlighting the crucial role New Zealand’s VFX, animation, and post-production sectors play in driving digital export growth. With post-production growing at an impressive 33% annually and contributing to some of the highest-grossing films in history, the Guild stresses that the sector’s global potential depends on targeted policy support.
At the heart of the Guild’s submission are three key recommendations:
Improved access to international markets for selling intellectual property and securing service contracts.
Competitive international incentives to attract high-value projects and investment.
Robust funding for talent development to build a sustainable and skilled workforce.
VFXG also advocates for a collaborative, whole-of-government approach involving agencies like NZOA, MCH, MBIE, NZTE, and the NZ Film Commission to work together to enhance the sector’s export capabilities and commercial success.
By aligning the Amplify Creative Strategy with these priorities, we have a vibrant future where New Zealand’s VFX, animation and post-production sectors lead in digital exports, helping achieve the government’s goal of doubling exports by 2030 and positioning the country as a global leader in creative innovation.
