VFXG Executive Director

A strong advocate for the screen industry, Bree Loverich was appointed the inaugural Executive Director of the Visual Effects Professionals Guild (VFXG) in July 2023. With deep experience in screen exports, international education, and facility development, Bree brings a powerful mix of strategic leadership, creative industry insight, and business acumen.

Bree previously established Screen CanterburyNZ, where she spearheaded initiatives that helped transform the Waitaha Canterbury region into a competitive screen production destination—most notably launching New Zealand’s first regional screen incentive. Her cross-sector network spans production, post-production, game development, government, and education.

Since taking the helm at VFXG, Bree has rapidly scaled the Guild’s national presence. She has set a bold strategic direction, increased membership by 80%, raised sponsorship revenue by 300%, and built a suite of impactful industry programmes. This includes launching New Zealand’s first VFX and animation industry value research project, advocating for better government support, and delivering well-attended national events and seminars. Under her leadership, VFXG’s LinkedIn audience grew from 70 to over 2,300 in less than two years.

Known for her sharp communication skills, data-driven mindset, and ability to turn challenges into opportunities, Bree continues to build a sustainable future for Aotearoa’s VFX and animation sector. A natural connector and trailblazer, she leads with energy, precision, and a future-focused vision for the screen industry.
