Minecraft VR Scouting and Simulcam Pipeline Seminar

End City Productions will host a two-hour workshop on the function and value of our Virtual Art Department’s VR Scouting and Simulcam pipeline for film productions. The workshop will cover the specific ways the Minecraft VAD team utilised Epic Games Unreal Engine across linear phases of the production.

During the workshop, they will discuss and demonstrate the creation of real-time assets and environments to support production design, storytelling, shoot planning, and both VFX and Editorial post-production workflows.

The MC VAD team developed unique and ground-breaking pipelines specific to the project’s needs, from virtual reality scouting and storyboarding to pre-vis, tech-vis, and post-vis, along with a defined simulcam workflow for principal photography.

The implementation of the VAD proved critical for advance planning and decision making. By visualising environments in a 3D virtual space, teams were able to design and plan from creative, technical, logistical, and financial perspectives. Several departments were able to benefit from the process, including production, art, set decoration, camera/lighting, grip/electric, stunts, visual effects, and editorial.

Keynote speakers will be Grant Major (Production Designer), Dan Lemmon (VFX Supervisor) and Heide Nichols (VAD Supervisor).
